Pioneer Pacific College

Pioneer Pacific College serves the greater Portland and Eugene Oregon areas with quality career-oriented educational programs. The school's three campuses serve almost 1,000 students, allowing small class sizes and personalized attention. The college's programs are selected to provide training that gives the graduate the skills he or she needs to gain employment, and have a successful career. Programs are regularly updated to ensure they use the latest technologies, and provide the most needed skills.

Medical program students can take advantage of the college's fully equipped training laboratory that simulates what is found in a physician's office or clinic, with up to date equipment including microscopes, autoclave, EKG machine, and other medical equipment.

Programs and Courses of Study

Associate Degree in Healthcare Administration

The six term Healthcare Administration degree program combines training in medical office skills, supervisory skills, and computer skills. Graduates are prepared to take on an administrative position in the health care field.

Students learn medical terminology, law, and ethics, as well as industry-standard medical office software, including Medisoft. They also learn the Microsoft Office Suite. They receive an introduction to accounting, payroll, and Quickbooks. Finally, they study medical coding and billing, and medical records management.

Bachelor Degree in Healthcare Administration

Following the completion of the associate degree coursework, students take advanced courses in the areas of accounting, human resources, and organizational management. Major courses include Case Studies in Healthcare Marketing, Ethics, Advocacy and Future Trends, and Health Care Planning & Evaluation. Offered at the Wilsonville campus.

Massage Therapy

The diploma program in Massage Therapy prepares students to become licensed massage therapists. It offers a combination of training in health science, massage techniques, and business management practices. Students learn the structure and function of the human body, including the terminology used with different body systems. They learn to administer different types of massage therapy and related modalities, and have an opportunity to practice what they have learned in the school's clinic, and at a supervised location in the field. Finally, professional development, business, and management courses prepare the graduate to start his or her own massage therapy practice. This program is offered at the Wilsonville campus.

Medical Assisting
Medical Assisting with Limited X Ray

The Medical Assisting program prepares students for careers in allied healthcare, including medical assistant, health plan coordinator, or insurance representative. Students learn the structure and function of the human body, along with medical terminology. They are introduced to clinical and laboratory procedures. The 45 week diploma program also teaches computer skills, including medical office software and medical transcription.

The 70 week Associate of Applied Science degree program includes additional computer and administrative training. Students learn the Microsoft Office applications suite, accounting and medical financial practices, and records management.

Students selecting the Limited X Ray option will receive training in taking radiographs of the head, spine, abdomen, head, and feet. They learn patient preparation and how to interpret films. The school's X Ray Laboratory provides hands-on experience. The Limited X Ray option is only offered at the Wilsonville campus.

All programs include a 180 hour internship at a medical facility.

Medical Claims and Billing Specialist

Prepare for a career in health care claims processing, insurance, or medical records management with the 4 term Medical Claims and Billing Specialist diploma program. Students learn billing and collection procedures for the medical office, including coding systems. They develop their computer skills, learning to access the Internet, and use Microsoft Office and Medisoft. Finally, they learn the fundamentals of accounting, business, and management.

Pharmacy Technician

In this program, students gain the skills they need to assist pharmacists with filling prescriptions and assisting with pharmacy operations. The comprehensive diploma program includes training in pharmacy terminology, pharmaceutical calculations and techniques, medication names, uses and doses. They also receive an introduction to medical billing and record keeping, plus pharmacy law and ethics. The program includes an internship, and is offered at the Eugene/Springfield campus.

New classes start every ten weeks, so the admissions process can be started at any time.
