In addition to clinical and lab courses, students learn computer skills, and receive health care administrative training. Graduates are able to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant exam. Medical Billing and CodingStudents in the Medical Billing and Coding diploma program learn to use computerized medical billing applications to accurately complete insurance plan forms for reimbursement. They learn insurance rules and regulations, and the codes used to identify diseases and treatments. Graduates are eligible to take the Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder - Hospital (CPC-H), and Certified Medical Biller (CMB) certification examinations. The Medical Billing and Coding diploma program is not offered in Indiana, Ohio, or Bartlett, Madison and Memphis, Tennessee. Medical Office SpecialistLearn to manage the day to day operations at a doctor's office or clinic by completing the Medical Office Specialist diploma program. Graduates are able to schedule patients, create medical correspondence, and work on medical accounting. Students learn computers and business math. Medical TranscriptionOne of the fastest growing careers in health care, medical transcriptionists convert material dictated by doctors to written form. The medical transcription program at National College gives the graduate the knowledge of medical terminology and procedures, along with the techniques needed to accurately transcribe medical records. The Medical Transcription diploma program is offered at the Kentucky, Tennessee (except Bartlett and Memphis) and Virginia campuses. Pharmacy TechnicianPharmacy technicians assist registered pharmacists in packaging and dispensing prescription and over the counter medications. The Pharmacy Technician programs provide graduates with the education they need for tasks including inventory control, processing insurance claims, maintaining records, and preparing prescription labels. National College's Pharmacy Technician diploma program is available at all locations except for Bartlett, Indianapolis, Stow and Youngstown. The Pharmacy Technician Associate Degree program is offered at Bartlett, Cincinnati, Dayton, Indianapolis, Madison, Stow, and Youngstown. Combining clinical experience with classroom instruction, this program teaches students how to care for patients and prepare them for surgery. Students learn to use surgical equipment and instruments, and gain experience in scrubbing and circulating. The Surgical Technology degree is offered at the National College locations in Cincinnati, Danville VA, Dayton, Florence, Harrisonburg, Indianapolis, Knoxville, Lexington, Louisville, Memphis, Stow, and Youngstown.
