Florida Technical College

Florida Technical College is a private two year institution offering Associate degree and diploma programs. The school was founded in 1982 with campuses in Orlando, serving Winter Park and Central Florida. The Lakeland campus in Polk county was opened in 1990, and the Deland campus, in Volusia county, was opened in 1997.

The school's health care training programs pride themselves on small class sizes and a student-focused environment. Students get hands-on training with the same equipment that they will find on the job. The school offers flexible class scheduling, experienced instructors, and a Career Assistance office that assists graduates with finding employment.

Degree Programs and Courses of Study

Medical Administrative Assistant

In the Medical Administrative Assistant Associate degree program, students learn the administrative and clerical functions used in medical and health care facilities, including doctor's offices and clinics. This program is offered at the Deland and Lakeland campuses.

Medical Assistant Technician

This diploma program prepares students for entry-level positions in the health care field. Through a combination of classroom training and hands-on experience, students become familiar with topics including medical terminology, surgical procedures, and pharmacology. Students gain hands-on experience through an internship at a clinical site, where they will perform tasks including billing, patient charting, and specimen collection. Offered at all locations.

Medical Assistant

Medical Assisting is one of the fastest growing careers in health care, and the degree program in Medical Assisting prepares graduates to start their careers. This hands-on program exposes students to clinical concepts and procedures, including working with EKGs, phlebotomy, and other medical procedures. Offered at all locations.

Admissions and Financial Aid

Prospective students are encouraged to schedule a tour at the campus of their choice. During the tour, an Admissions Representative will be able to answer any questions. Florida Technical College participates in a number of grant and loan programs, including the Federal Pell grant and the Stafford Student loan program. A Financial Aid Representative works with prospective students during the admissions process to assist in receiving any eligible financing.
