Associate degree in Health Services Administration

Students in the Health Services Administration degree program develop an understanding of the complex health services industry and the interaction between health care service providers and health funding agencies. Major courses explore topics including managed care, the ethical and legal aspects of health services, and health services management. In addition, students take business courses providing a foundation in general management, accounting, and computer skills, including computer applications for the health industry. Liberal arts courses and an internship in a health facility round out the education. Students may choose to take coursework online, or at any of the school's campus locations.

Associate degree in Health Services Administration - Medical Insurance Billing and Coding

This program provides a thorough introduction to both the information processing requirements of the health care field, and the financial and insurance reimbursement procedures used by hospitals and doctor's offices. Students learn the specialized terminology used in the health care field, along with the specific procedure codes and coding systems used for insurance claim forms and patient records.

Additional courses include an introduction to computers, anatomy and physiology, and financial accounting. An internship provides hands-on experience in the field. This program is offered online, and at all campus locations.

BBA or BS in Health Services Management

The BBA in Health Services Management provides a broad exposure to many areas of the healthcare industry, preparing the graduate for a variety of entry-level positions. Specific health related courses provide industry focus, while a complement of business and liberal arts courses develop the student's managerial and communications skills. Coursework includes health services research, methods, computer applications for health services, and healthcare management and finance. Management courses include human resources management, marketing, and organizational behavior. The degree includes an internship. The BBA degree is offered in New York, and the BS degree is offered in New Jersey. Both are offered online.
